Love it!! Best gift ever!
My husband gave me this for Christmas 2011 and I LOVE IT. I have read many reviews here and it seems that the major issue people have with it is the stylus.
I cook dinner 6 out of 7 days and bake quite often. Since I started using the iPad for recipes I can not tell you how many times my poor screen had goop or blobs. Yes, I would try to wash/wipe hands before using it, but sometimes I would need to check something in the middle of having my hands dirty. I guess after seeing me trying to scroll using elbow or nose (yes, laugh now) my husband looked and found this!
Honestly, I am not sure why people complain about the stylus. This was geared and designed for KITCHEN use. The way I see it, it is a tool to keep you from getting stuff on your iPad/tablet while you are cooking. The hefty size is a plus since it doesn't disappear on your counter and makes it easy to grab. Useful, but stylus is unreliable with iPad
The Belkin Kitchen Stand has a definite place on our kitchen counter, and is very useful for positioning the iPad when referring to recipes. The chrome is plastic, but is well made.
I haven't had much luck with the stylus, though. It doesn't consistently register on my iPad's screen, and is big, heavy and not well balanced in the hand. In fact, we have put it away altogether and only use the stand. The capacitative tip does not work unless you press on the screen incredibly hard. I've had better luck with stylus' that cost less than a third of what this set does. It is a shame Belkin didn't test the stylus a bit better before including.
Thanksgiving Came Twice
The Belkin Kitchen Stand and Wand arrived yesterday, the day before Thanksgiving. How perfect, I was beginning my 'T Day' baking, and this would be quite the test! I scrolled to my favorite 'Pate Brisee' recipe- I know how to make it after many years, but need reinforcement with the actual amounts. Anyone who makes pies, understands that it can become a many floured thing. I do roll the dough between plastic wrap, but there is considerable amount of flour in-between. The stylus was such a godsend for three reasons, 1. I used it to point at the specific part of the recipe I wanted, 2. I could scroll easily using the stylus and 3. I could wake up the tablet when it went to sleep. No flour on the tablet!
Not only was this stand helpful with pie making, but I used a new gravy recipe. The turkey can be messy when taking out of the pan, and I did not need to worry that the grease on my fingers would get on the tablet. The stylus really makes this stand very desirable. I also...
