It is what it is!
I bought this thing thinking that it would do alot more than what it does. Like VOD or watch recent tv shows, I can do almost everything that this unit does already with my HR DVR box. Does it work, yes. Would I buy another one, NO.
I work as an IT person for a large movie studio and even for me it was also a HUGE pain in the rear to set-up. I ended up having to call Directv and have a service person come and hook it up.
The problem with the set-up on this unit is you have to lower your router settings to WEP from WPA2 to get it to work.
Although I haven't had much time to mess with this unit and find a way to get the settings back to WPA2, when I figure it out I will surely be posting the solution all over the internet.
I think what I'm gonna do instead of buying another one of these units is, take one of the spare computers and hook it up wirelessly to the TV and call it good from there.

Great Product!
I love that Directv got with the program a while back and got on demand service. However, they wanted to charge me 100 bucks for the wireless connection kit. I said no thank you. Well a year later I happened to stubble upon the product on amazon and purchased it for more than 50 percent off and super quick shipping. So way better deal if you ask me.
The set up was quick and easy. I will say the learning curve was a bit hard as for learning how to actually find the on demand shows. I mean the free ones. It was plenty easy to find what they wanted to charge you for. But once I got the hang of it, it was just like using cable or fios on demand service.
Works great for what it is
Please note--this will not...repeat NOT...allow you to stream live TV from your Direct TV receivers--if you'd like to add whole-home type capability, this will do the trick without networking your home or running new cables.
The shortcoming is not in these boxes, but in the way that Direct TV has opted to limit sharing--I'm assuming to prevent 'theft', but it is a hassle when you're trying to network existing receivers into other media devices (such as a wireless capable blue-ray player).
