An awesome projector
We eventually purchased Epson 5010e which has wireless HDMI capability but is otherwise identical to the 5010. This review was written for the 5010e but applies just as well to the 5010, except the wireless HDMI part.
After considerable amounts of research, I narrowed the choice down to two candidates (in my price range) - this Epson 5010 and Panasonic AE7000U. Went with the Epson because of the supposedly better black levels and the split screen feature.
The projector arrives well packaged (of course). It is a big and hefty piece of equipment but not heavy as such. A single person of average strength can easily hang it upside down from the ceiling. The box does not come with a "base plate". So if you are looking at mounts that require a base plate, make sure to get one of those as well.

Best Movie Projector in its price range
This projector has an excellent feature set:(Lens shift, motorized pixel alignment that can be adjusted in the menu, Automatic lens cap, affordable replacement lamp etc.)Image quality is top-notch in both 3D and 2D mode. Black level is unbelievably good, as good as many DLPs! Cross talk is almost non-existent. In movie viewing I couldn't find any cross talk. To measure the cross talk I had to manually feed in super-high contrast test-images (full black vertical bar on full white background and full white vertical bar on full black background) to see cross-talk, keep in mind with that kind of test image, even DLP and RealD cinemas will show cross-talk. Brightness in 3D is sufficient, which is an astounding achievement at this price level. Brightness in 2D is excellent, they rate it at 2400lumen and it does feel 3x as bright as my 1000lumen old projector (subjective estimate, not a scientific measurement).
After viewing a few movies I was really impressed with the color and...
Love It!
Just received the projector on friday in time for the super bowl. It was so easy to set up and required very little tweaking. The picture quality is amazing, throughly enjoy watching.
Had bought the 8350, which was also excellent but wanted the 3D capability for our home theater. Very happy with Epson so far.
